I would like to draw your attention to the fact that it has now been 21 years since Abdullah Öcalan was imprisoned in Turkey. Abdullah Öcalan is the founder of the PKK, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party. He has been kept in isolation despite the huge international criticism that Turkey has received regarding his imprisonment.

This is of course counterproductive if one wants to achieve peace in Turkey. We must support the PKK in its ambition to find a peaceful solution.
Today, on International Campaign Day, we demand that the EU and the international community demand that Turkey release all political prisoners, and we also demand that the international community support the peaceful process that must be set in motion in Turkey. Thanks.”
